You might be familiar with our revolutionary sliding vane technology, but how much do you know about our vane construction offerings? Blackmer® Sliding Vane Pumps are available in a variety of materials to better meet your unique application requirements. However, the vane composition itself must be taken into careful consideration, as the vane must be strong enough to withstand the stresses of pressure, centrifugal and mechanical forces. Each application also demands chemical compatibility and good wear properties to support a long life of vane performance.

Systems used in liquid transfer and process applications work across a wide range of operating points. Pumps are often designed to operate at a single specified design point, but the disparity between the pumps and their full systems can be devastating to traditional pump technologies.

Cavitation can ruin internal pump components, and most pumps fail when operating under sustained cavitation, pumping liquid/vapor mixtures and carrying out poor Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) applications.

All transfer and process pumps are tasked with handling some percentage of suspended solids, but not all pumps are up to this challenge. Weld slag, rust and sand are just a few examples of solids that can disrupt fluid flow in lesser pumps.

Catastrophic pump failure is possible in centrifugal and gear pumps due to dry run operation, and despite advances in preventing the failures associated with dry run, these pumps still are not as equipped to handle the issue as the Blackmer® MAGNES Series.
